Indigenous Incubator Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of our logo design contest and with that, the very first internal initiative by the Indigenous Incubator focused on providing Indigenous artists with an opportunity to shape our brand.

Contest Rules

The following are the rules for entering into the Indigenous Incubator Inc. Logo Design Competition. Please read the rules and the procedures in order to apply properly. Send your logo submissions to admin@indigenousinc.org along with your web address if you would like us to have a link to your work on our site.

1. Agreement to Official Rules

Participation in the Design Competition constitutes an entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of the Indigenous Incubator Inc. (the “Sponsor”), which are final and binding. Winning a prize is contingent upon being compliant with these Official Rules and fulfilling all other requirements set forth herein.

2. Eligibility

The Indigenous Incubator Inc. Logo Design Competition (the “Design Competition”) is open to all Artists in Canada who are of indigenous descent and who are at least eighteen (18) years of age at the time of entry. The Design Competition is subject to federal, provincial, and local laws and regulations.
Logos should meet the following criteria:

  • Logo should be submitted in a jpeg format;
  • Your logo must be your own original concept and not a copy of anyone else’s copyrighted material;
  • You may only submit your own artwork that you, personally created;
  • If there is any question about authenticity, the Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify your logo without recourse;
  • The Sponsor has the sole right to refuse submissions based on quality of the image, poor quality, inappropriateness of content, and/or concerns regarding copyright infringement in the original work.

3. Sponsor

The Design Competition is sponsored by the Indigenous Incubator Inc., located at:

4. Design Competition Period

The Design Competition will accept submission between at 7:00 am MST and at 11:59 pm MST up until September 30, 2023 (the “Design Competition Period”). Entries that are submitted before or after the Design Competition Period may be accepted in the sole discretion of the Sponsor, but the Sponsor has no obligation to accept or not accept any entry. Submissions will be accepted for the duration of the Design Competition using any of the following methods:

  • Email submission.

5. How to Enter

Email Submission: You can submit your logo design (in jpeg format) via email, along with a signed and scanned copy of these Rules, to admin@indigenousinc.org. There is no entrance fee associated with the competition. Each entrant is eligible to submit up to two (2) logo submissions.

6. Image Preparation

Prepare your images as required before beginning the submission process. Submissions are only accepted via the email submission process. Submissions on CD or prints are not allowed in this competition and will not be returned.

Digital image files must meet the following specifications:

  • JPG files only.
  • 300 DPI resolution (Please try to keep the file size under 10 MB to ensure proper loading).
  • Do not send images of your artwork which has been framed or contains watermarks.
  • The Sponsor may color correct your images in order to enhance the overall presentation.
  • The Sponsor may crop your images for formatting purposes for use in their slideshow presentations, other off-site slideshows, YouTube presentations, other presentations, marketing materials and for the website if your logo chosen.

7. Winner Notification

On or about the , following the close of a competition, the Sponsor will announce the winner along with all eligible entries received. The prize money and award certificates will be transferred within two (2) months of announcing the winner.

8. Awards

One (1) winner will be chosen from the entries. The winner will receive a $1,000.00 Honorarium.

9. Criteria for Judging

The logo submitted to the design competition will be posted online for a public vote which will determine the public vote winner. The public vote winner shall receive $250 Honorarium. The actual Indigenous Incubator Logo shall be determined by management and receive a $1,000 Honorarium.

10. Winner Notification

On or about the , following the close of a competition, the Sponsor will announce the winner along with all eligible entries received. The prize money and award certificates will be transferred within two (2) months of announcing the winner.

11. Awards

One (1) winner will be chosen from the entries. The chosen winner by Management will receive a $1,000.00 Honorarium and the winner of the popular vote will receive a $250.00 Honorarium.

12. Criteria for Judging

The logos submitted to the Design Competition will be judged by executive members of the Indigenous Incubator Inc.’s organization, subject to change, and based on the aesthetic impression of the logo, the relevance of the logo to the Sponsor’s business interests, and the relationship that the logo draws between the social mission of the Sponsor.

13. Use Rights

Artists who submit their artwork to the Design Competition agree to the following.

  1. If your submission is selected as the winning entry:
    1. That the Artist transfers to the Indigenous Incubator Inc., and the Indigenous Incubator Inc. all of the Artists right, title and interest in the logo. The Artist acknowledges that the purpose of this Design Competition is to source a logo for the Indigenous Incubator Inc. and its affiliated companies, and further acknowledges that the logo will be used for that purpose and for the regular purpose of corporate logos.
  2. If your submission is not selected as the winning entry:
    1. That the Indigenous Incubator Inc. be granted right to display the submissions for display, marketing, and promotional purposes related to the Design Competition. The artist further agrees that Indigenous Incubator Inc. can maintain an archive of the logos for the purpose of a historical documentation and as a record of the competition. This archive may be available for public viewing online or in print. All logos used for such promotional purposes will be credited to the artist who submitted said logo.
    2. Otherwise, the Artist shall maintain all copyrights of any images that are submitted to the Design Competition.
    3. By entering this, you are granting the Indigenous Incubator Inc. a non-exclusive, perpetual license to reproduce images of your logo for the purpose of advertising this Design Competition.

14. General Conditions

In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the Design Competition is impaired in any way for any reason, including, but not limited to fraud, virus, bug, worm, unauthorized human intervention or other technical problem, or in the event the Design Competition is unable to run as planned for any other reason, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, the Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, either (a) suspend the Design Competition to address the impairment and then resume the Design Competition in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules or (b) terminate the Design Competition.

15. Release and Limitations of Liability

By participating in the Design Competition, entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, other companies associated with the Design Competition, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, shareholders, representatives, and agents (the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Design Competition or receipt or use of the prize (including any travel or activity related thereto), including, but not limited to: (a) any technical errors associated with the Design Competition, including lost, interrupted or unavailable Internet Service Provider (ISP), network, server, wireless service provider, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone, cellular tower or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties; (b) unauthorized human intervention in the Design Competition; (c) mechanical, network, electronic, computer, human, printing or typographical errors; (d) application downloads, (e) any other errors or problems in connection with the Design Competition, including, without limitation, errors that may occur in the administration of the Design Competition, the announcement of the winner, the cancellation or postponement of the event and/or the flyover, if applicable, the incorrect downloading of the application the processing of entries application downloads or in any Design Competition-related materials; or (f) injury, death, losses or damages of any kind, to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrants participation in the Design Competition or acceptance, receipt or misuse of the prize (including any travel or activity related thereto). Entrant further agrees that in any cause of action, the Released Parties liability will be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the Design Competition, and in no event shall the entrant be entitled to receive attorney’s fees. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Design Competition. Entrant waives the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages.

16. Disputes

Except where prohibited, each entrant agrees that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Design Competition or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively courts in the Province of Alberta, located in the city of Calgary. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, entrants’ rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of the Sponsor in connection with the Design Competition, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of Alberta, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules, which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than Alberta.

17. Privacy

Information collected from entrants is subject to sponsors privacy policy.

18. Changes in Rules

All provisions herein may change without notice, in the sole discretion of the Sponsor.
